Vad hände med freden

What happened with the peace process

What happened to peace in Colombia after a peace agreement was signed in 2016? How can we work with art for a peaceful society? And what is really peace?

All of this is part of PeaceWork's new project "What Happened to Peace?". In different ways, we address these issues, create a platform to examine violence and power structures, and address it both practically and theoretically. The purpose is to spread knowledge about peace in Colombia, meet other young people involved, learn more about PeaceWork's work in Colombia, and to meet young peace actors from Colombia. During the project, we will have several activities where the group will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively, discuss together and learn from each other. This project will include various events, art, podcasts, debate articles, and more.

How could you participate on "What happened with the peace?"

We have no requirements for prior knowledge. Do you want to learn more? Meet others who are interested in Colombia? Engage in peace issues in general? We are looking for young activists and creators who are interested in getting involved in our platform. Write to us: julia.eriksson@peaceworks.se

"What happened to peace?" is an information project with support from Sida through Forum Civ, the focus is on young people getting involved in peace issues and justice issues that are linked to the current situation in Colombia. The project is to increase young people's knowledge of these issues concerning peace in Colombia in order to promote critical reflection, reflect and criticize structures of violence and power. Colombia is one of the most dangerous places for human rights defenders, where violence and murder have increased since the peace agreement was signed in 2016. One of the project's goals is to make visible the violence against human rights defenders.

PeaceWorks has solid experience in creating and holding interactive workshops and lectures. Through this project, we have produced a workshop that is about just "what happened to peace?", About power, violence and global justice. During the project (2022-2023), we offer the workshop free of charge to schools, associations and other groups, with the target group age 15-30.

The project is rights-based on Agenda 2030, 5 of the 17 goals in Agenda 2030. Goal 16 which is about a peaceful and inclusive society, goal 5; achieve equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, goal 10; reducing inequalities between and within countries, Objective 12; ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns, Objective 17; which is about strengthening implementation and revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development.
